of only a handful of California community colleges offering a comprehensive forestry/natural
resources program
Many educational programs can accept only limited enrollment due to lack of space, such as medical programs (CNA), first responder programs (EMS) and Welding. Increasing space capacity for these programs--including a
new extension site
in Corning--will provide
the educational opportunities
our students need.
Expanding the main campus Public Safety Training Center facilities will increase the safety of our communities through newly trained personnel and LOCAL
continuing education.
The Shasta College science labs received only a cosmetic update since being built. Critical safety infrastructure is needed for safety, such as fume hoods for proper ventilation. Measure C will invest
in this infrastructure to bring state-of-the art learning facilities
to our students.
The counties served by Shasta College generate an estimated $1.5 to $2.5 billion in agricultural production each year, supporting thousands of local jobs. Shasta College contributes to this industry by preparing students for jobs in agriculture, horticulture, equipment maintenance, and related technical careers.
Installing a stormwater recapture system would reinforce Shasta College's leadership in sustainable agriculture and environmental stewardship by conserving potable water which is crucial in drought years. Students preparing for careers in agriculture, environmental science, and natural resources will gain hands-on exposure
to modern water management technologies that are becoming increasingly important
throughout California.
Shasta College is preparing the nurses our region depends on—with nursing graduates achieving a 96.5% first-time pass rate on the state RN licensing exam in 2024-25. Measure C will expand modern simulation labs and health career training so Shasta College can continue preparing the next generation of nurses and healthcare professionals for
our region.
Shasta College is one of the few California community colleges offering comprehensive forestry education together with specialized Heavy Equipment Logging Operations and apprenticeship pathways—making it a critical workforce partner for the North State's forest and timber industries.
